About This Rhythm Trainer
Solid rhythm is the skill audiences notice first — a wrong note passes, a broken pulse does not. This free trainer plays a short rhythm pattern and asks you to tap it back on the pad, the spacebar, or your touchscreen. Your attempt is scored on two things separately: the shape of the rhythm (which gaps are long, which are short) and your tempo.
How to use it
Choose a comfortable tempo with the BPM slider, press Listen, and count along with the count-in. When the pattern finishes, tap it back. The feedback is specific: it tells you if you rushed, dragged, or missed a beat, so every attempt teaches you something concrete.
Level progression
You begin with simple quarter-note patterns. Master enough patterns at 80% or better and the next level unlocks, introducing eighth notes, rests, syncopation, and longer phrases as you climb.
FAQ: What tempo should I practice at?
Slower than you think — 60 to 80 BPM is ideal at first. Slow practice exposes timing errors that faster tempos hide. Once a level feels effortless, raise the BPM before moving up a level.
